  On my other experience with Europcar, I booked and paid for a medium sized car but at the airport, they told me I'd only booked a micro car and had to pay extra to get a car big enough for my family. I met other people who'd also been scammed like this.

  When I got back, I was told that a minor scratch was new and thus I had to pay. Both my wife and I had noted this scratch and talked about it when we collected the car, but it wasn't on the list of scratches so I had to pay over 300 Euros. This was annoying partly in that I did not do it but particularly because the multiply scratched car proves that you don't even do anything about these scratches anyway!

  Finally I got a car. It had multiple scratches, including a deep gouge out of the roof, but ran fine so I didn't mind. After waiting so long, I foolishly did not go through the list of scratches carefully not take photos.

  What a rip off. First, I had to wait over an hour to get the car, as the five customers in front of me all got given the wrong keys and then had to come back to get that sorted.
